Description

The Epipremnum pinnatum ‘Skeleton Key’ is a unique  Aroid that is popular among collectors for its funky leaf shape. Its leaves transform into the shape of a skeleton key as it matures, with a wide, rounded leaf base and a narrow strip, only held by the middle vein, towards the tip. This houseplant is a hard-to-find must-have plant for every collection!

When juvenile, the leaves of Epipremnum pinnatum ‘Skeleton Key’ resemble those of any other Epipremnum – narrow and oval with a tip. However, once you allow it to climb and mature, the leaves will start to morph into the unique shape plant lovers can’t get enough of. It will also develop fenestrations as a mature plant.

That is why it is important to give Epipremnum pinnatum ‘Skeleton Key’ a support pole to climb on. Only then its leaves will reach their full potential in terms of size. Ultimately, you should use a moss or coco pole for support, but our brass plant support and our golden plant stakes will make great starter poles for this houseplant.

Epipremnum pinnatum ‘Skeleton Key’ is a very robust houseplant that can tolerate a little bit of neglect when it comes to water. Yet, do not let them dry out completely too often. Ideally, water them when the top 3 cm of soil are dry. Most Aroids don’t need the brightest spot in your home in order to thrive and can adapt to lower humidity levels. This is why they make for such great houseplants! That being said, however, it will thrive best in bright indirect light and at least moderate humidity.

Make sure you plant your Epipremnum pinnatum ‘Skeleton Key’ in an airy potting mix suitable for Aroids. We highly recommend our Aroid Potting Mix, which we developed specifically for this plant family. If you decide to make a similar potting mix yourself, it should consist of bark, perlite, and peat moss.
