Aroid Potting Mix is our in-house handmade potting medium suitable for most of your dear tropical plants. Since Aroids are some of our best sellers, we’ve been looking into sourcing a potting mix tailored to their needs. We couldn’t find one, so we decided to make one ourselves!

This potting mix contains: Plagron light potting mix, bark, perlite and activated charcoal. We have tested it on our plants and are happy to finally be able to offer it to you!

In the spirit of plastic free life we are selling this mix per 5 litre paper bag. If you need more than 5 litre, simply add multiple bags to your order and we will bag it into something bigger. Please note you can only order  a maximum of 4 bags of Aroid Mix per order.

Why activated charcoal? Charcoal rids the soil of impurities, repels insects, and prevents mold and odors. It also absorbs nutrients and slowly re-releases them into the potting medium, so it’s harder to over-fertilise your plants.

What is perlite? Perlite is a lightweight granular material made from expanded volcanic glass, heated to 1000°C until it ‘pops’ (like popcorn) to many times its original size. It’s lightweight, sterile, and easy to handle, and is long-lasting. Perlite’s expanded nature makes it extremely porous, so it can absorb water, but it also improves drainage, so is ideal to mix into compost to ensure water drains freely.

Why bark? Bark aids in drainage, loosening up the mix, so water can go through more easily and the mix won’t get soaked too much.

This potting mix will be suitable for all our Monstera, Philodendron, Syngonium and Aglaonema.

If you want to use this mix for Anthurium, we recommend mixing in some extra bark. For Alocasia, we prefer our soil-less Alocasia Potting Mix.

Germany 1-3 days

For all other countries delivery time can range from 3-10 days.

At the moment we are processing the orders Monday to Wednesday – so if you order from us on a Wednesday it won’t be processed until the following week.

Due to bio laws our plants are shipped only to the countries of European Union and Switzerland. Shipping fee includes packaging and handling costs. All parcels are sent with a tracking number. We cannot guarantee specific delivery times. Please note: we aim to get all orders shipped within 7 working days from the date of order.

To avoid plants being held up in the post, we only post them out Monday to Wednesday (depending on the season) if shipping inland Germany or Mondays only when shipping in EU.

When ordering in winter, please know that we ship our plants with heat packs included in the package. We can however postpone the shipment if the temperatures go below 0.

Please note that some damage can occur during transit on occasions, despite our best efforts to package our plants ready for travel. We hope you understand if that does by chance occur.
