Description

Anthurium crystallinum, is most closely related to Anthurium papillilaminum but bears some resemblance to A. clarinervium, thus the common confusion between the two species. The leaves of Anthurium Crystallinum have dark green coloration with a velvety appearance. The leaf veins are pale green along the major veins with the abaxial (lower) surface a much paler green than the top of the blade.  New leaf blades as well as the undersides of the adult leaf and petiole are sometimes tinged red-violet.

Like all Anthurium species, Anthurium crystallinum changes as it grows.  The juvenile leaf blades sometimes only vaguely resemble the adult blades. Anthurium species are known to be highly variable and not every leaf of every specimen will always appear the same. This link explains in greater detail the scientific principle of natural variation and morphogenesis.

We currently carry a few Anthurium plants in our shop,  Anthurium Clarinervium and Anthurium Silver Blush being some of them.

Size

Each plant is about 35cm tall and comes in a 12cm pot.

Anthurium Care Tips

For more detailed care tips, check out or blog post on Anthurium.

Light

Anthurium thrive in medium to bright indirect light.

Water

Anthurium appreciate consistent watering and do not like to dry out fully. Water your Anthurium when the top 3cm of the soil are thoroughly dry.

Humidity

While glossy-leafed Anthurium will do well in moderate humidity, Anthurium with velvety leaves generally require higher humidity of at least 70%. Most corrugated Anthurium only thrive from 80%+.

Soil

Anthurium will do well in a very loose, aerate mix like our Aroid Potting Mix. You can also grow them in soil-less substrates such as sphagnum moss or semi-hydroponics.

Propagation

Anthurium can be propagated by stem cuttings or from seed via pollination.

Toxicity

All Anthurium are toxic to humans and animals when ingested.
