Aphelandra Squarrosa ‘White Wash’ is a variety of the popular, pet friendly, ‘zebra plant’. It is characterised by white/beige leaves with spots of green and strong veining and undulating leaves. It’s a hard to come by variety that will stand out in any collection. Native to Brasil, it’s truly a jungle plant that in its natural environment can act as a climbing plant.
‘White Wash’ originated from crossing Aphelandra squarrosa cultivar and Aphelandra squarrosa ‘Snow White’ and it was conducted in 2011 in the Netherlands.
Aphelandra will thrive in a bright spot and although it can tolerate shade it wont flower if its not given enough light. Keep it consistently moist in summer months and let dry out between waterings in winter.
